Have you ever heard someone mention the concept of drivability? Chances are high that you've seen some auto repair shops or dealers promoting it. It's not one of those trick words with a definition you would never expect. On the contrary, drivability is your vehicle's ability to drive (hence "drive ability"). Now, your understanding or requirements for drivability may differ from that of another driver. How you need a vehicle to handle/respond when you brake, turn, accelerate, and so forth may be quite different than your neighbor who also dabbles in racing.
When an auto repair shop considers the drivability of a vehicle, its technicians will look at several elements. For example, does your vehicle stutter when you accelerate after stopping? Is the check engine light on (or any dashboard warning lights)? Is the vehicle responsive when you bring it to a stop? How is the fuel economy? Each is an example of drivability concerns.
